David Nalbandian retires from tennis

David Nalbandian took the decision of quitting from tennis due to shoulder injury. He is a former Wimbledon finalist. He came to the world of tennis in 2002 and went up to the final against Lleyton Hewitt in SW19 tournament.

Apart from being the finalist he has also reached up the semi finals of many grand slams such as Australian Open, French Open and US Open. His highest rank was 3rd in 2006 in the month of March. With the infamous incident of 2012 at the final of the Queens he accidentally injured his leg by kicking the hoarding of an advertisement due to which the official of tennis Andrew McDougall got injured. The official was brutally injured and blood started to spew from his leg for which David Nalbandian was disqualified when he was playing against Marin Cilic.

After that he became renowned for his temper and aggression. The issue became a concern for police investigation and he had to pay 40,000 Euros as indemnity and other prize money of his was forfeited.  His form deteriorated and his rank slided down to 231 when he decided to call it quits. He himself stated that he does not feel fit to continue. But David Nalbandian enjoyed some of the brightest moments in his tennis career in the junior tennis tournaments. He did a lot for his country by winning the Davis Cup and his personal best was the Masters Cup in 2005 and Madrid Masters in 2007. His final appearance was in an exhibition match against Rafael Nadal in Buenos Aires in November.

He could have turned things around but his injury left him helpless. Otherwise he has beaten all the top ranking players Djokovic, Nadal and Federer in succession He was a leading tennis player during his playing time.
